WEST LAKE TOHOPEKALIGA
(Also known as Lake Toho)
Being on Lake Toho offers unforgettable encounters with nature that will fire both your senses and imagination. The waters thick and deep blue, feels as though you are on a tiny ocean. The lake encompasses nearly 12,000 acres. Everyone knows that the Bass in the lake are said to be some of the best in the country. But, there is more to Lake Toho than the Bass.
The late afternoon and early morning hour’s offer so many scenic shots that you might just run out of film, or these days fill up that digital memory card. The trees line the lake shore and animals can be seen running and scampering along the water’s edge. There are too many to list, but all are beautiful.. Raccoons, deer, otters and lots of birds: big birds, birds with long, skinny legs that will spot you drifting slowly by. The take flight with what seems like great effort; they flap and flap their wings until finally they are lifted into the air. So gentle and serene are their movements, you will think it most accurate image of gracefulness you will ever see.
As you travel deeper into a narrow waterway, an extension of the main lake, you will feel as though you are a pioneer from another era, exploring some new aspect of the new world, of this huge lake that you had never before seen and that had never before been traversed. The sun will filtered through the trees with magical reflections of light, making everywhere you looked seem like post card photography.
