Doubled up on Lake Toho Bass guide bass

The start of what could be a historic year for Lake Toho bass fishing

The weathermen are calling it! They’re saying it’s going to be a warm winter here in Florida. While I’m sure the weathermen are disappointed, all of the fishermen are excited. Because warm weather in the winter means good fishing, and especially good bass fishing. While bass fishing here in Florida is still amazing during the cold parts of winter, it can be exceptional during the warm parts. Because that is when massive waves of Florida pot bellys move up to the spawning flats, where there locations are very predictable and they become easier to catch. Due to the warm weather […]

Good Fishing Even After a Cold Front

On today’s Lake Toho bass fishing adventure the fishing was hot and heavy. We had a cold front pass thru the area the night before and even though we were fishing right after this cold front we still caught the heck out of fish for the first hour and a half! We couldn’t keep more than 2 rods in the water! The area that we were fishing is a spawning flat and the fish are beginning to load up in these areas. The bass fishing on Toho should get better and better as we move further into the spawning period. […]

Florida bass fishing report on Toho

Florida bass fishing on Lake Toho has been fast and furious. Today I had a client that was here in Central Florida on vacation with his family from England. He fished a 4 hour guide trip with us and caught over 15 bass by 9:30 am and probably had close to 30 bites. His name was Allen and he fished by himself so he was one busy bass fisherman. A couple of times he had two bass on at the same time! Before he could get one bass in the net, another was on the other rod. We even caught […]

Great early fall Toho fishing

The bass fishing on West Lake Toho today was hot and heavy. Today’s trip was a reunion of three friends that grew up together. I heard lots of story’s from there high school days, and plenty of jokes. It was a good day of comradery and bass action. The bass bite started as early as first light and was non stop until we ran out of bait! These 3 friends caught over 15 bass weighing anywhere from 2 to 7 1/2 pounds and only a couple were under 3 pounds, with around another 15 being missed that makes around 30 […]

Lake Toho in the fall

Choice of Bait: During the fall months: We fish the hydrilla and maiden-cane grass fields in 3 to 6 feet of water. Artificial lures and wild shiners both work well at this time of the year. But, if it’s lunker bass you’re after, wild shiners produce the really big ones. This doesn’t mean that you can’t catch trophy bass on artificial lures – you can – just not as frequently as with shiners. However, if fishing with artificials is your choice, it’s best to use only weed less baits: plastic worms, soft-jerk baits, spoons, and top water lures because the […]
