Lake Toho’s bass fishing is absolutely insane right now. It’s the HOTTEST lake in Florida. With no shortage of hydrilla and other types of submerged grasses all throughout the lake you can literally hammer them from one end to the other. 40+ fish days are very common with 20+ fish days being a tough day. Even after cold fronts! And these aren’t little fish either. 3 pounds has been the average size! The fall bite has started and the bass are biting everywhere! The recent cold fronts we’ve had have really kicked the fish into overdrive and they’ve started gorging themselves for the winter. I have to say the FWC has done a great job of managing these lakes and listening to us these last couple of years and we are all able to pick the fruits of their labor now. Ahhh the good old consistency of Florida summer bass fishing. For the most part not much has changed from last months fishing report to this months. Except for one key factor. The big fish bite. Because the FWC has halted the use of chemicals to kill off unwanted grass the lake as a whole is in a much better state than it has been in a long time. Healthy grass can be seen all over the lake and even healthier bass are being caught. As long as the FWC can keep the invasive hydrilla from over taking the lake with their hydrilla harvesters the lake should be producing record numbers of bass in the coming years!
